Accessibility

We want everyone who visits our website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, so we are actively working towards increasing the user experience and accessibility of our website to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines set out how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.

There is a lot that goes in to ensuring we are conforming to these guidelines and the following helps to explain some of the ways we have or are working towards them.

What have we done?

Font and text size

We’ve used clear, legible font for all text and headings. If the font is too large/small for you, you can increase the font size, images and other elements on the page by holding the ‘CTRL’ (CMD on a Mac) and ‘+’ or ‘-‘ keys on your keyboard.

Images, videos and other multimedia

We aim to ensure all images, audio, video and other multimedia have text equivalents. We’ve done this by providing descriptive ‘alt’ attributes for them or providing a transcript of the recording. Images which are purely for visual enjoyment may have empty alt attributes.

Scripts

Our website uses JavaScript to improve usability and experience. We understand however that this won’t work for everyone, so we are working on creating alternative non-JavaScript pages for our most critical pages.

iFrames

We try not to use iFrames (which involves embedding a portion of our website or another website within our pages) as we know these are a barrier to accessibility. There are a limited number of pages on this site which does use iFrames and we are actively looking at ways to remove these.

Keep your browser up to date

Whilst we aim to have a focus on accessibility in our design and accessibility and keep our website updated for the newest versions of all major browsers, for the best experience we recommend you use the most recent version of your browser whilst using our website.
